Help with adding video, slideshows etc

Video
There are many websites that host videos:
http://www.youtube.com/ - has a post to blogger button
http://video.google.com/
http://www.viddler.com/
http://stage6.divx.com/
http://next.video.msn.com/

  • They all allow you to EMBED a video on a blog - all you do is click on the embed/add to website/video link and then copy the code (CTRL C) and then paste it (CTRL V) into your new post.
  • If you already have a video file that you want to put online just upload it to any of the above places and then embed the video as before.
  • If you want help with Cutting videos in to smaller bits before uploading then email me.
PowerPoints
Presentations can be uploaded to a couple of different websites and then EMBEDDED in the blog in the same way as videos:
http://www.slideburner.com/
http://www.slideshare.net/
  • You will need to register to upload but it's fairly painless and if you hunt well there are loads of Powerpoints you could use.
Photographs
There are lots of places to store photos online and you can add slideshows or individual photos to a blog really easily.
  • If you use http://www.flickr.com/ you can embed a slideshow on the blog http://pictobrowser.com/ is the simplest way
  • You can also insert them using the WYSIWYG editor that is part of Blogger
  • All you really need to insert any photo is it's url (Firefox - rightclick - Copy Link Location; IE - rightclick - Copy Short Cut or Properties)
Documents
The best way to deal with documents is to get them online somewhere and then link to them through the blog. This will give a link that people can click on to download the file to their computer.
  • Probably the easiest way is to use Google Page Creator as a store for anything that you want to keep online: http://pages.google.com/. Once you are signed in with your gmail address you will have 100MB of your own online space.
  • You can upload most things and then right click on the file and get it's address to insert into a post.
  • There are also lots of online document viewers if you want to look at these files online rather than download them: http://www.docufarm.com/index.jsp You can add an extension to Firefox or Internet Explorer that allows you to see the files.

Flash Animations
These are quite common and can be added really easily once they have been uploaded to http://pages.google.com/. Just email me and I will send you a bit of code to use.
